The Rainbow Jersey is awarded to the winner of the offical world championship of the professional road raceers  , and is then worn until the new champion is crowned. The colours come from the UCI colours and created in 1927 . Tom Simpson was Britain's First holder of the Rainbow jersey.

 

The Green Lion , Wiel's -Groene Leeuw jersey. 1962-1966.   Groene Leeuw was a Belgian Bike Manufacture , and Wiel's as a Beelgian Brewer of low-alcohol Beers. They favoured riders from East Flanders .The Flandria team favoured riders  from the west for a while their rivarly was a nice little subplot to the ever present battle between Flanders and the French -speaking part of Belgium
