The Pink Jersey , 1933 to present day.  The pink Jersey or the maglia rosa in Italian, denotes the leader of the Giro d'italia. The pink is because the pages of the race sponsor ,the sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport are pink. The first Giro was in 1909 and the race was decided on points that were awarded according to the finish order of each stage. Running the race on points removed the incentive for spectors to get involved in delaying riders to allow their favourite riders to gain time ,which happened in the Tour de France.

IJsboerke was a Belgian professional cycling team that existed from 1973 to 1982. Its main sponsor from 1973 to 1980 was Belgian ice cream manufacturer IJsboerke. In 1981 and 1982, its main sponsor was the juice drink brand Capri-Sun . Walter Godefroot won the 1978 Tour of Flanders with the team.

One of their subsponsors was Koga Miyata a bicycle manufacterer from Heerenveen
